Entry Title: The NYS English Language Assessment 2018
The ELA test is an untimed test that contains several different types of questions. Students answer multiple choice questions based on short passages they read, and write responses to open-ended questions based on stories, articles, or poems they listen to or read.

Mini-Lesson: The New NYS ELA!
- Mr. DeGrandis will present a PowerPoint about the new and improved NYS ELA for 2018.
- You will complete the Structured Response Activity in Google Classroom as you listen, with a partner or on your own.
- Mr. DeGrandis will demonstrate how to log in to the NYS Website that has three Test Samplers we will be using in order to understand the test format, digital tools available and some of the most common questions you will encounter during the test.

The extended response question is basically an extended short answer. Use a good intro paragraph that includes Hook, Link, Thesis (Controlling Idea), Bridge and body paragraphs that follow the TREES structure and a concluding paragraph.
