MECHANICS

The term mechanics in the English language refers to all the technical rules that make up grammar and syntax. It covers aspects of language such as word order, punctuation, capitalization, and spelling.


LEARNING TARGETS                 

I can peer review the blog of three other classmates using the rubric for the assignment and check for mechanics.

        MINI-LESSON                  

1.  Check out this video on proofreading tips to help you spot typos and correct mistakes.

2.  Focus Questions
        1:  Why is it so hard to proofread your own work?
        2:  What does it mean to put your work on ICE?
        3:  Which text-to-speech read is recommended in the video?
        4:  Why is making sure your writing is error-free so important:  give two reasons.
        5:  Accurate proofreading requires ____ and a clear _____.


        WORK TIME                      

1.  Add the Natural Reader extension to your Chromebook.  Use it to listen to your blog.

2.  Use Grammarly to check your blog.

3.  Pick 2-3 other classmates you trust to check over your site for mechanics and have them compare the rubric with your site.

4.  Proofread your site as well as two other people's and submit your work when you think it's perfected.
