TUESDAY: Go over the practice test for tomorrow.
1. As a cast, write the script using the rubric in Assignment 48.1 as a guide.
2. Grading: Each day we work on this project, you will receive an on-task grade that starts with 10 points which includes: helping your team, using Chromebook for classwork only, and staying on task.

WEDNESDAY 4-19-23 B-Day: Analyzing Short and Extended Responses
1. Check your Gmail twice a day - before school and after school.

1. Short Response Question: A brief response to a question based on a text or passage. It should be written in TR EA EA T format. They require you to quote TWO pieces of evidence from the text. Use quotes and refer to line or paragraph numbers. (In the text, lines 2-4, it states, "All Rufus does is sit and stare out the window.") Be sure to include the title, author, and genre in your topic sentence.
2. Extended Response Questions: Typically based on two texts that have something in common, these are longer, more detailed responses. They should have a short intro paragraph (including TAG and thesis statement), two body paragraphs (TR EA EA T), and a conclusion paragraph. Usually, you must include evidence from both passages.
I can review the format of the NYS ELA short and extended response questions by completing a practice test.

THURSDAY & FRIDAY 4-19,20-23 C/D-Days: Group Evaluations of Student Samples
1. Check your Gmail twice a day - before school and after school.
1. Extended Response Rubric - The rubric teachers use to grade your extended response. It is a 0-4 rubric.
2. Short Response Rubric - The rubric teachers use to grade your short responses. It is a 0-2 rubric.
3. Exemplary Reposnse - a response written by NYS as an example of how to respond to a question on the NYS ELA.
4. Guide Paper - A response written by a real student who took the test. Each guide paper has a corresponding SCORE and EXPLANATION of why the student received the grade they earned.
I can better understand the criteria required to get a high score on the short and extended responses of the NYS ELA by analyzing several student responses and grading them.

1. Read over the Exmpalarly Response Packet with your team. Check it with the extended response rubric to get a feel for how the state grades these.
2. Open the Guide Papers in Google Classroom.
3. Reach each Guide Paper.
4. Record your grades for each one in Assignment 50.5 in Google Classroom.
