- You will be assigned a Peer Review Group by your teacher.
- FIRST: Share your essay with each person in your group via Google Docs.
- The Process
- Select a Director for the group. Then...
- Select one person's essay to review. This is the Reviewee.
- Everyone should display the Reviewee's essay on their their Chromebook.
- The Director will then read the essay out loud as the group follows along.
- Each person should just listen. Then as the Director read the essay a second time, begin looking for ideas that need changing. Think TREES! (Topic sentences, reasons, good evidence, context for evidence, clear explanations)
- Then, go through the rubric as a group and highlight each part of the essay according to the rubric.
- If the author's essay is missing anything or needs to be improved, the group should help them figure out what needs to be fixed. Remember you are just changing ideas within sentences or paragraphs.
- The suggestions should be made on the essay so that the author can fix them on their own or do it as the team makes suggestions!
- Repeat this process for each member in the group.
- Mr. DeGrandis will be sitting in giving each student a participation grade.

Entry Title: Quick Write
- DIRECTIONS
Using the TREES essay structure, write a single paragraph essay in which you describe a challenge Ha and her family face on their way to America. - SAMPLE ESSAY
In the novel Inside Out and Back by Thanhha Lai, Ha and her family have to suffer harsh conditions. This is because they are trying to get to the United States on an overcrowded ship. Ha's family had to overcome the embarrassment of Brother Khoi's dead chick because it smelled so bad. Hay notes, Neighbors complain... saying it's bad enough/ being trapped/ in putrid, hot air... must everybody/ also endure/ something rotten? This proves the family had to suffer harsh conditions because people knew brother Khoi smelled because of his dead chick. Being a family of refugees isn't easy.
