DIRECTIONS
Copy the scenarios below into a Google Doc in your composition book and infer (a guess based on your own knowledge and a text) which vocabulary word it reflects most closely. Write that word on the line provided.

HINT:  Use Vocabulary List I to help you!
  1. Terry needed to clear her head.  It had been a long day.  She turned down the lights, lit a scented candle and sat in the middle of her living room floor and reflected on her day.  It was heaven.

  2. Jerrell had been sitting at his desk for almost two hours.  He had finished his exam over an hour ago and now he sat staring at the clock. He couldn't leave for another hour! No phone. No book.  No way to occupy himself.  Just sit there staring into space and hope time would speed up just a little.

  3. It all happened so quickly that Giselle thought that maybe she had imagined what she had just done.  When she saw her cousin Imani's birthday cake and thought of all the shaming she had suffered every day since school started, she couldn't help herself. It was too late. She looked at the white, purple and red frosting smeared all over her fist and then looked at the giant hole in the cake.  She slowly realized the room was silent and everyone had stopped singing.

GO OVER VOACBULARY LIST I QUIZ ANSWERS


1.  How will the discussion activity will work?

    a. You will be divided into 6 groups. Once assigned a group, change your name to include your group number in front of your name.  (i.e. 1-John DeGrandis)

    b.  Each group will be assigned one slide from the Discussion Questions.  Find the Discussion Questions in the Stream of Google Classroom.

    c.  Each group will must assign a timekeeper, a writer, and a speaker for the group.

    d.  As a team, you will answer the questions or complete the activity on your slide.

    e.  Your grade will be based on your team's answers to the questions.  Be sure everyone can answer all the questions on your slide.

2.  How will my team be graded?
