Copy the excerpt below from the poem, Inside Out into a new entry in your composition book.  Then, highlight the end-stopped lines in red.  Highlight enjambed lines in green.  

Raise your hand and show your finished work to Mr. D. 

Maybe soldiers will no longer patrol

our neighborhood,

maybe I can jump rope

after dark,

maybe the whistles

that tell Mother

to push us under the bed

will stop screeching.

SECOND

Two Words, One Sentence

Select two words from Vocabulary List III and use them in one sentence.  Be prepared to share your sentence with the class for class participation.

EXAMPLE

Hazel had to endure the shame of alienation by her peers because she told the teacher, Mrs. Jacuruso, who shot spitballs at Zacari during recess.
