LEARNING TARGETS

I can practice my peer editing skills using several online tools.

        MINI-LESSONS

Use these awesome inline editing tools to help you check your own work as well as peer review the work of your classmates!

Before using the tools below you should...

a. Read the text to yourself.

b.  Open the rubric associated with the assignment.  This is the best tool to use to be sure you are maximizing the points you will receive.

Some Helpful Online Tools for Peer Review

1.  TITLES: Write catchy titles for your blog, essays and updates.  Check out this article from Grammarly for tips on writing great titles.  Also, try this cool title generator for ideas.  And double check that your titles are capitalized correctly using the Capitalize My Title website.

2.  FLUENCY:  How does the text sound when read?  Does it flow?  Read the copy you are reviewing out loud to yourself.  Want to have it read to you?  Cut and paste the text into Natural Reader and will read it to you.  You can even pick the voice you like best!  This will help you catch a lot more problems.

3.  MECHANICS: Use the Grammarly Website.  Cut and paste the text there and Grammarly will catch most of your spelling errors and a lot of other grammar-related typos.  Did you know all SOTA students have a free Grammarly account?

        WORK TIME

Use the online tools above to help you check your own writing and to help you peer reveiw the work of your classmates.

When you finish, be sure to give your peers feedback on their work so they can make the changes you suggest.
