ENGLISH 8 - Week 10

     MONDAY   11-2  D-day: Composition Book Peer Grading                

     Announcements     

  • If you resubmitted an essay, you must notify me through Google Mail that you resubmitted your work or it may not get graded!
  • How was your weekend?
  • Assignment #7: Character Motivation Anchor Chart should be completed by now.
  • Assignment #6: Who is Ha? Essay should be turned in by now.

     Add to Vocabulary List II

  • 9.  writhe v. (writhes, writhing, writhed) - to make continual twisting movements of the body.
    The majestic lion writhed in pain, its body twisting in strange patterns, after being shot with a tranquilizer gun at close  range.
  • 10.  pivotal adj. (pivot, pivoting, pivots, pivoted) - of crucial importance in relation to the success of something else.
    Graduating from high school was a a huge achievement in Hank's life and a pivotal moment in the life of his mother as well.

  • Directions: Write one sentence using two vocabulary words that proves you understand their meaning by the way you used them.  Be prepared to share for a ticket!
  • Example:  In order to engender a feeling of pacifism in my mother after telling her I was leaving home to join the circus, I gave her a hug and promised I would text her everyday.
