5.  arbitrate v. (-d, -ing, -s) to act between parties to resolve their differences  
If your two best friends are fighting over the last piece of gum in the pack, you might arbitrate by telling them to split it. 

6.  nauseate  v. (-d, -ing, -s, nausea, nauseous) to feel sick to the point of almost vomiting

The first few weeks of her pregnancy were difficult because Katy woke up every morning feeling nauseated and dizzy.

        b) In Person Students - Stay calm and quiet. Go right down the hallway and exit building at end of the hall.

     Until Jem and Dill excluded me from their plans, she was only another lady in the neighborhood, but a relatively benign presence.

    We were accustomed to prompt, if not always cheerfully acquiescing to Atticus's instructions, but from the way he stood Jem was not thinking of budging.

    COPY THESE QUESTIONS INTO THE ABOVE ENTRY AND THEN ANSWER THESE QUESTIONS AS YOU WATCH THE VIDEO.

    1.  Define the following questions according to the video...

            a.  Define prejudice.

            b.  What are stereotypes? 

            c.  Define racism. 

            d.  Define Explicit Bias 

            c.  Define Implicit Bias 

    2.  Give an example of prejudice from page 49 of the novel.  Based on the definitions above, how might you describe the prejudice in this scene and why?

    Power Tip:  If you are tracking prejudice you may want to use this in your theme tracker.
