Start a new list in your notebook.

Entry Title: Vocabulary List II


1.  engender v. (engenders, engendered, engendering) - to bring a feeling into existence

When the principal announced that students could no longer wear sneakers to school, it engendered anger in the student body.



2.  pacify v. (pacified, pacifying, pacifies, pacifist) - to ease someone's anger; calm someone down

After dropping her cell phone in the muddy puddle, I tried to pacify my angry friend by offering her a big, warm hug.


LEARNING TARGETS

2.  I can support my inferences with textual evidence from a photo.

        MINI-LESSON          


1.  Review: Take the Inferencing Quiz in Google Classroom, Assignment 23.0!

2.  What is a Gallery walk and how does it work? A gallery walk is a chance for you to view a text.

3.  How it works:  You have the chance to view a collection of photos and write down details you notice about each one.



        WORK TIME          


Gallery Walk Instructions
1.  Open assignment 24.0 in Google Classroom.
2.  Go into the hallway and view each picture one at a time.
3.  Fill in your Notice and Wonder Chart for each photo.
4.  Return to your seat when done.


          ASSESSMENT          

Make sure you TURN IN Assignments 23.0 (the quiz) and 24.0 before you leave class today or they may be considered late.

1.   Open the assignment titled, The Tell-tale Heart in Google Classroom.


2.  Pick Either Assignment A OR Assignment B Not Both

Read your own novel and complete 10 Thoughts on the attached active reading worksheet.  Be sure to fill out the top green box with your novel info.  Spelling, capitalization, grammar and useage all count!

Read the short story, The Tell-Tale Heart by Edgar Allen Poe and complete 10 THoughts on the attached active reading worksheet.  Be sure to fill out the top green box with the story info.  Spelling, capitalization, grammar and useage all count!

I can improve my reading comprehension by actively reading a novel of my choice or a short story provided by my teacher.



        WORK TIME          


Complete 10 Thoughts by the end of the period and submit your work.
